0.75oz/18g 37yd/33m, #4 worsted weight, I used Premier Everyday Worsted Yarn
US size I crochet hook (5.5mm) or size needed to obtain gauge
yarn needle
sewing scissors
Stitches
CH – Chain
FHDC – Foundation Half Double Crochet
HDC3L – Half-double Crochet in 3rd Loop
DLSLST-Drop Loop Slip Stitch *see Notes
SLST – Slip Stitch ST(S) – Stitch(es)
Gauge
7 HDC3L stitches x 8 rows = 2″ square
Notes
-US terms
-All rounds are worked with the front/right side facing out
-Ch 1 at the beginning of each round DOES NOT count as a stitch.
-All HDC3L rows are joined using DLSLST: Finish last HDC3L of the round. Drop loop from hook. Insert hook through 1st stitch of the round (back/wrong side to front/right side). Place dropped loop back on to hook and pull through 1st stitch of the round. Gently tighten up any slack. This method will create a straight even seam.
-Caron Simply Soft, Red Heart Comfort, and Lion Brand Heartland can be substituted for yarn, but always check your gauge!
Pattern Instructions-Elkhorn Cup Sleeve
Rnd 1: FHDC 30 stitches. Join last stitch to 1st stitch with DLSLST. There will be a gap at the bottom of this round where you joined the last and 1st stitches. You will close this up with your yarn tail when weaving in your ends. (30 HDC)
Rnd 2-12: CH 1. HDC3L in 1st ST. HDC3L into each ST around. Join to 1st DLSLST (* see notes). (30 HDC3L)
Rnd 13: CH 1. HDC3L in 1st ST. HDC3L in each ST around. Join with SLST to 1st ST. (30 HDC)
Cut yarn, weave in all ends , making sure to close the gap from the foundation row.
And there you have it! Attach your own tag, add an applique or just leave the cup sleeve as is.
